So what are we having for breakfast?
The first few mornings always take some getting used to, so something quick and easy is ideal for me!
Here’s a nice option for you to try:
Mixed berry smoothie
1/4 cup raw Oats – for that fibre benefit and we need something low GI to give us sustained energy throughout the day
1/2 cup mixed berries – for more fibre and antioxidants and to get in a fruit serving for the day. I got some frozen ones from @dischem
250ml plain low fat yoghurt or you can do 150ml yoghurt and 100ml low fat milk if you don’t like it too thick – this will give us some protein, calcium and vitamins and help us get in a dairy serving for the day
1 scoop (30g) whey protein powder – protein has a high satiety value which means it’ll keep us fuller for longer. We also tend to lose some muscle mass during fasting so meeting our protein goals for the day is important for minimizing these losses. I used a vanilla flavored one but I’m sure a berry one would work well too
Ice cubes – this is optional for a better textured smoothie but also to make a huge noise with your blender and wake up your neighbors if you stay in an apartment block
